‘Pharmacists and pharmacies are confident they have a more prominent role to play in the field of mental health, and particularly in suicide prevention, provided we have the political support, integrating the pharmacy network into strategies and programmes'.

This is how Jesús Aguilar concluded after his appearance before the Senate Health Committee today, within the framework of oinging work on mental health and suicide prevention.

Aguilar stated that the pharmaceutical profession is made up of more than 80,000 members who play a key role in improving the use of medicines and in the protection and promotion of public health.

Their work, ‘especially in community pharmacies, places these professionals in a unique position to act as a key resource in the prevention of suicide’
